My name is Hamlet D'Arcy. 33 years old in 2009, live in Minneapolis USA (but would like to move!)

I've been working in Groovy for several years now, with deployed code from Groovy 0.3! I do not use Grails or Griffon too much professionally (ie get paid for it) but hopefully that will change soon. Also, I became a Groovy committer earlier this year. I've created a few features in 1.7 so far.

I'll be speaking at 2GX this year (2009). Here are my topics: http://www.springone2gx.com/conference/ ... _d%27archy

I would LOVE to travel and speak more, so if you want a user group/conference speaker then I'm your man! Or, if you just want your work group to learn more then I'm open to doing a Skype call on any of these topics. I've done the "Groovy+Legacy Code" talk for a few corporations and people seem to like it.

Hi,

I'm Tomas Lin, 29. I am a Taiwanese person that grew up in Guatemala with a Canadian passport living in London. So I am 100% confused.

I started using Grails for Flex projects about 18 months ago, and think it's everything Java should have been. Before that, I've worked with Java and frameworks like SAP Netweaver for the last ten years or so.

I currently work for a visual search company called Pixsta, where we are using Grails as the front-end layer for our fashion search portal http://www.empora.com/

Like Sébastien, I will also be speaking at the Groovy/Grails Exchange in London in December. If you have any questions about the city, Flex or Grails, feel free to PM me...

My name is Matthew Taylor, and I live in the St. Louis area of the USA. I have a wife, 2 little kids, 2 dogs, and a turtle. I'm sure there will be more members of the family soon enough (human or animal, I'm not sure).

A couple of years ago, I was lucky enough to work on the same software team as Jeff Brown. We soon discovered we shared some of the same interests. By the time Jeff had taken the job with G2One, I had moved on to another job. Lucky for me, G2One needed some reliable US help, and because Jeff had worked with me before, he trusted me to join the team. I worked for about a year doing nothing but Grails consulting and plugin development. After SpringSource bought out G2One, I worked for them for 6 months before being let go. Nothing personal, but they needed me to travel much more than I could with my 2 small kids. I continue to have a good relationship with SpringSource, and they occasionally give me freelance work. (Of course, that was about the time the economy went to shit.)

During my time with G2One / SpringSource, my biggest community project was GrailsUI. I also had a hand in the rateable, bubbling, and growler plugins. I also traveled a bit to give training and consulting to companies that wanted to get into groovy and grails.

I am currently working as a Java developer (with some Groovy) at a company in town, but I will be getting back into Grails within the year. At the moment, I'm preparing two presentations for 2GX, so come say hi if you are coming to New Orleans in October!

Matt, if you like Leffe then you owe it to yourself to try and get to Devoxx in Belgium. So many great beers and great people!

Our shared interest is actually "beer" in general. I've never had Leffe, but I love lots of different kinds of beers. So I'm sure I would enjoy Belgium.

My name is Graham Ranson, and since others give their age, I'm 60.

I'm based in west Wales, a delightful area with poor communication links in all respects, but then that's the beauty of rural living (anyone want to buy a small farm?).

I'm involved with a small software company (Olympic Computers) in the UK. We've been around since the 80s and a few years ago decided that it was time to update our main package (payroll and invoicing software). Java was the obvious area to look at but before we had gone very far down the JSF route we came across Grails and that seems to suit our purposes quite well so we're in the process of a complete re-write in grails which we started about 12 months ago; needless to say several other things have come up in the meantime so we still have a few months to go.

I also started to use Griffon a couple of months ago and started a blog http://grahamgriffon.wordpress.com/ about it but this came to an abrupt halt a few weeks ago because of the usual urgent requirement to do a few others things...hopefully I am now back on track and will resume my writing activities as well later this week.

We greatly appreciate the time you've set aside to write those entries. Prepare for an increase of traffic when the following tweet makes it to groovytweets/grailspodcast: http://twitter.com/theaviary/status/3807991553

Cheers,
Andres
